Reading Essentials: A six-year-old’s list of must reads

Six-year-old Arinjay has a list for us! And like any bookworm worth his salt, he likes ‘so many books!’ On being asked to think of the ones he will always love, he came up with this list. So here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth!

  1. The Book with No Pictures by B. J. Novak: I love it because it’s very funny
  2. The Kingfisher First Dinosaur Picture Atlas by David Burnie and Anthony Lewis: I learn about dinosaurs and I love dinosaurs.
  3. Horses (Hinkler Books): I love to ride horses and I love to learn about the different breeds and to learn about them.
  4. Animal Antics by Derek Harvey: The book tells us about all the funny things that animals do when they are happy and we also learn information about them
  5. One Fish Two Fish by Dr. Seuss: It is very funny
  6. And to think that I saw it on Mulberry street by Dr. Seuss: In this story I like young Marco because he lets his imagination out to retell a plain horse and wagon on Mulberry street, and he transforms it onto a very big imagination.
  7. A Silly story of Bondapalli by Shamim Padamsee: I like it because it’s very silly!
  8. Mr. Big by Ed Vere: I love it because the story tells us that all the people in Mr. Big’s town are scared of him and the story tells us that all scary people are not bad.
  9. A Picture for Harold ‘s Room by Crockett Johnson: I love it because Harold makes his own picture with his purple crayon and he uses his imagination.
  10. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein: I love it because there are very very silly and fun poems.

Our reporter, Vaishali, has assured us that the list and the words are entirely Arinjay’s and the adult only had a hand, both actually,  in typing the whole thing out. Thank you Arinjay for the absolutely fabulous collection!
